The La Casa team consists of about fifteen employees driven by the desire to positively impact people's lives by developing a shared living concept that fosters social connections.
The Genesis of La Casa
La Casa was launched by Victor in 2017, driven by the recognition that housing and loneliness are major issues in large cities. It introduced the concept of shared housing (a form of coliving) in the Paris region. On one hand, renting a comfortable and affordable accommodation in capitals like Paris, where rental pressure is high, is very challenging. On the other hand, large cities tend to foster isolation rapidly, leading to a growing sense of unease among the population. According to an Ifop study, 20% of French people admit to suffering from loneliness, a figure that rises to 38% among young working adults in Paris.
For Victor, it's urgent to disrupt the conventional housing norms in metropolises by emphasizing social connection as a life elixir. It's with this conviction that La Casa opened its first shared housing facility in July 2018 in Maisons-Alfort, just 30 minutes from Paris by metro. By offering spaces that combine private quarters (bedrooms with bathrooms), communal areas (kitchen, dining room, living room, garden), and a sense of community living, La Casa addresses the issues of isolation and inadequate housing in major cities.
To meet the increasing demand, La Casa has expanded to 41 houses in the close suburbs of Paris (Créteil, Rosny-sous-Bois, Colombes, Villejuif, etc.), and currently accommodates around 500 residents with an average age of 29.
