SDG 3 - Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Reducing social isolation is one of the challenges identified to achieve this goal. Large cities quickly isolate individuals, especially in the era of social media and remote work, creating a growing sense of unease among the population. According to an Ifop study, 20% of French people report suffering from loneliness, a figure that even rises to 38% among young working adults in Paris.
At La Casa, the community comes before the walls! We put everything in place to develop shared living spaces that create connections and enrich lives. Our social impact ranges from the well-being brought by the quality of relationships to personal development and project advancement through skill exchanges and the essential knowledge of living in society.
«Vivre en communauté et créer du lien», c'est la première motivation qu'expriment les colocataires pour expliquer leur choix de rejoindre La Casa. Pour eux, La Casa va bien au-delà d’un simple logement : c’est un écosystème social divers et enrichissant. L’accès à une «qualité de logement confortable» et la possibilité de «profiter de services clés en main inclus dans le prix» sont des critères de décision essentiels.
-28% carbon emissions by renovating a 12-bedroom Casa instead of 12 individual studios.
-47% carbon emissions by sharing furniture instead of each person owning their equipment.
-23% carbon emissions from energy consumption in a Casa compared to that of 12 people living in 12 studios.
This positive outcome is due to several corrective actions implemented:
Improvement of insulation in our property portfolio.
This is the primary lever for reducing energy consumption. The majority of the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for Casas we purchase are rated E, F, or G before renovation. After renovation, the EPCs for the Casas are in C (80%), or D (20%).
Monitoring and managing energy consumption in real-time in each Casa.
Pour suivre l’impact de ces actions, 2 indicateurs :
Carbon emissions related to annual energy consumption per roommate: 0.78T in 2022-2023.
Carbon emissions related to furniture purchase per room: 1.64T in 2022-2023.
At La Casa, we purchase large houses close to public transportation that were previously inhabited by two people (on average). We renovate them through interior modifications to transform them into shared living spaces accommodating 12 individuals, each benefiting from an average of 25m². By increasing their capacity, we densify residential areas close to public transport, thereby limiting the construction of new housing and the artificial development of land.
In the context of a housing crisis, La Casa offers a solution for providing comfortable and well-located accommodations to young professionals who struggle to find housing, especially in areas with high rental demand.
